Residential property sales in Turkey increased by 20.6% in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 1,478,025 units.

In 2024, residential property sales in Turkey increased by 20.6% compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 1,478,025 units.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released the housing sales statistics for December 2024. According to the data, the provinces with the highest number of housing sales were as follows:

  • Istanbul: 239,213 units
  • Ankara: 134,046 units
  • Izmir: 80,398 units

In December, 212,637 properties were sold, which represents a 53.4% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.

First-hand housing sales reached 76,629 units in December, marking a 49.5% increase year-on-year. In total, first-hand housing sales in 2024 increased by 27.6%, reaching 484,461 units.

Second-hand housing sales in December amounted to 136,008 units, showing a 55.7% year-on-year increase. In 2024, second-hand sales rose by 17.4%, reaching 993,564 units.

Foreign buyers purchased 23,781 homes in 2024, accounting for 1.6% of the total housing sales.

Mortgage-backed property sales in December surged by 285.3%, reaching 23,277 units. However, total mortgage sales in 2024 decreased by 10.8%, totalling 158,486 units. Mortgage sales accounted for 10.9% of total sales in December and 10.7% for the entire year.
