NEWS The metro line to connect Istanbul city center to Istanbul Airport to open very shortly

The countdown has started for the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport metro, which was built to provide transportation to Istanbul Airport from the city centre, to be put into service. The authority has shared the names of the stations Istanbul Airport Metro will stop.

There are days left to open the metro line that will connect Istanbul Airport, one of the most important airports in the world, to the city centre.

The foundation of the giant project was laid in 2016, and thankfully the construction has been completed. The concerned announcement has come from the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure. Adil KARAISMAILOGLU, Minister of Transport, has the following message on his TWITTER account; "We are starting the service soon."

Citizens who look forward to using the metro line started questioning which stops the metro would use. The route of the metro line consists of 8 stations between Gayrettepe - Istanbul Airport and 9 stations between Istanbul Airport and Halkalı. Down below are the Istanbul Airport metro stops and their names.

The stops and connection points are as follows:

Gayrettepe (M2 Yenikapı - Hacıosman Metro and Zincirlikuyu Metrobus Connection)
Kağıthane (M7 Mahmutbey - Mecidiyeköy Connection)
Uydu (Satellite) Terminal
Istanbul Airport
Cargo Terminal
Kayaşehir Center (M3 Kirazlı - Başakşehir Metro Connection)
Olympic (M9 Bahariye - Olympic Metro Connection)
Halkalı Stadium
Halkalı (M1B Yenikapı - Atatürk Airport Metro and High Speed Train Connection

The new metro line will undoubtedly improve the quality of transportation in the mega town. On the other hand, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) has been constructing new metro lines to further comfort citizens in their journeys in Istanbul.
