Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reported that Istanbul Airport is the busiest airport in Europe, with an average of 1,401 flights per day. He stated, "The airport maintained its top position in 2024, surpassing airports in European capitals such as Amsterdam, London, and Paris."
Minister Uraloğlu evaluated the European Aviation Overview Report, published by EUROCONTROL on January 23. He highlighted that Istanbul Airport continued to be the busiest airport in Europe, with an average of 1,401 flights per day, and noted, "In 2024, Istanbul Airport remained at the top, surpassing airports in European capitals like Amsterdam, London, and Paris. This marks the third consecutive year Istanbul Airport has finished at the top."
The Minister expressed confidence that Istanbul Airport will maintain its leading position, stating, "Since its opening, Istanbul Airport, one of Turkey's mega-projects, has served a total of 338 million 152 thousand 378 passengers. Of these, 255 million 668 thousand 998 passengers traveled on international flights."
Turkey ranks 6th in Europe with 3,140 daily flights.
According to traffic statistics from the European Aviation Overview Report published by EUROCONTROL, Minister Uraloğlu pointed out that Turkey ranks 6th in Europe with an average of 3,140 daily flights, making it one of the countries with the busiest air traffic in Europe. He also noted, "Our success in flight traffic is reflected in delay times. When EUROCONTROL examined flight delays in European airspaces, Turkey’s airspace was among the most efficient, with a delay of less than 0.5 minutes per flight."
