The United Kingdom's Ambassador to Turkey, Jill Morris, has completed her traditional visits to Aegean and Mediterranean coastal cities this year. As part of her itinerary, Morris has held various meetings in İzmir, Aydın, Muğla, and Antalya.
During these meetings, Ambassador Morris expressed her gratitude for the support provided to ensure the safety and peaceful holidays of British visitors, especially as the tourism season begins. She also exchanged views on potential cooperation opportunities in various fields such as tourism, trade, transportation, agriculture, and technology.
Muğla is the Number One Choice for British Citizens
It is well known that the main reason behind Ambassador Morris's visits to these particular regions is that Muğla is the top choice among UK citizens vacationing in Turkey. Of the approximately 2–3 million British tourists who come to Turkey, the majority prefer to spend their holidays in Muğla’s popular resort towns such as Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, and nearby areas.
In addition to its natural beauty, Muğla attracts many foreign visitors thanks to its high-standard accommodation options. In recent years, it has become the most preferred holiday destination for British tourists.
Particularly along Turkey’s Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, places like Marmaris and Fethiye draw significant interest from British nationals. According to tourism professionals, the appeal of these regions stems from the fact that the local markets, hotels, and even the entertainment and food culture are heavily influenced by British tastes.
In fact it can easily be observed that in these holiday spots British tourists are seen to feel as comfortable as they would in their own homes.
Jill Morris Held Key Meetings Ahead of the Tourism Season
As such, UK Ambassador Jill Morris held meetings with local administrators of major tourism centers such as İzmir, Aydın, and Muğla during her visit. She discussed potential cooperation in fields like tourism, trade, transportation, agriculture, and technology, and expressed her appreciation for the support provided to ensure the safety and enjoyment of British tourists as the holiday season begins.
