NEWS Record in home sales to foreigners in 2022

Home sales to foreigners increased by 81.8 percent in June compared to the same month a year ago to 8,630 and set a record. This figure was recorded as the all-time peak on a monthly basis. The Russians took first place by a large margin.

Buying a home for the majority of Turkish citizens has turned into a dream, while sales to foreigners are growing rapidly. In June, the share of home sales to foreigners in total home sales was 5.7 percent.

Istanbul took first place in home sales to foreigners with the sale of 3,906 houses. Istanbul was followed by Antalya with the sale of 2,534 houses and Mersin with the sale of 428 houses, respectively. In the January-June period, home sales to foreigners increased by 72.7 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 35,383.

RUSSIANS TOP THE LIST

According to nationality, the highest number of home sales was made to citizens of the Russian Federation

In June, citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 1887 housing units from Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by citizens of Iran with 987 housing units, and Iraqi citizens with 807 housing units, respectively.

Russians, who bought 479 units in January and 509 units in February, increased their home purchases from Turkey after the start of the Ukrainian war on February 24. The figure which was 547 in March went up to 1152 in April, 1275 in May, and 1887 in June.

With the war, Ukrainians also increased their home purchases in Turkey. The number of home purchases in Turkey by Ukrainians was 102 in January and it went up to 301 in June.

THE FOREIGN SHARE IS 31.5 PERCENT IN ANTALYA AND 14 PERCENT IN ISTANBUL

In June, 8 thousand 45 issues of the homes sold were in Antalya, while 2 thousand 534 of them were bought by foreigners. In Antalya, the foreign share of total home sales reached 31.5 percent in June.

In June, 27,998 houses were sold in Istanbul, while 3,906 of them were bought by foreigners. The foreign share of home sales in Istanbul in June was 14 percent.
