Travel writers of the British newspaper The Guardian cited the Çıralı and Patara beaches of Antalya as among the cleanest beaches in Europe. Among the 30 Beaches chosen by British writers, there are 3 more from Turkey.
In a period when many arguments are being made as to how life will return to normal after the Coronavirus outbreak that rocked the world and eventual holiday plans, the Guardian published the 30 cleanest beaches in Europe. Among the Beaches chosen by the newspaper's travel writers were two beaches from Antalya. The world-famous Patara Beach in Kas and Çıralı Beach in Kemer were named “the cleanest in Europe” by said writers.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had announced in an AK Party group meeting that the ancient city of Patara in the KAS District of Antalya was chosen as Turkey's 2020 Tourism Year theme. Said announcement had made the tourism sector in Antalya very happy, emphasizing that it would contribute greatly to the promotion of the region and Antalya.
Patara Beach, with its 12km sandy beach next to the ancient city, has been voted “the cleanest in Europe” by British travel writers. Patara Beach is one of the most spectacular beaches in the region with its turquoise blue sea and fine sand.
ÇIRALI beach on the other hand has also been named among 30 best beaches in Europe. The mayor of Kemer made a statement regarding the issue and said “Çıralı is one of the best places in our region. It continues to attract domestic and foreign guests with its nature, calm and peace of mind. Our Çıralı Beach, which continues to fascinate the guests coming to our district, was among the 30 best beaches in Europe prepared by the British newspaper The Guardian. This is also the nesting area of the Caretta Caretta”.
Among best beaches referred by the Guardian were also the Aquarium in the Bozcaada District of Çanakkale, Iztuzu Beach in Dalyan District of Ortaca District of Muğla, and Kabak Bay in Uzunyurt District of Fethiye district of Muğla.
