Turkey has obviously been enjoying some good times in tourism as more and more foreign visitors come to this country to spend a beautiful holiday. In fact, the number of foreign tourists preferring to travel by air to Antalya which is one of the world's leading destinations in tourism is reported to have exceeded 11 million since the beginning of the year.
Based on data provided by Antalya Province Culture and Tourism Directorate, 1 million 877 thousand 528 foreign tourists came to the city via Antalya and Gazipasa airports between 1st and 29th September 2018 corresponding to an increase of 25 percent as compared to same period last year.
On the other hand during 1st January 1st September 2018 period 11 million 4 thousand 809 foreign visitors entered the city via two airports. 10 million 717 thousand of the visitors arrived at the Antalya Airport and 287 thousand 800 landed at Gazipasa Airport. The number of visitors increased by 28 percent compared to the same period last year.
Antalya hosted 2 million 416 thousand 574 more foreign visitors this year, compared to the same period in 2017.
This superb achievement is obviously due to the fact Turkey started hosting Russian tourists again after an undesired period of unpleasant relations with Russia and also the fact that the local administration in Antalya has done a good job promoting the city again on an international level.
Unless the country incurs unexpected negativities to affect tourism as well, it is quite apparent that Antalya will keep growing its tourism industry on the way to becoming one of the major tourism spots in the world. This is no surprise as the city has so much to offer in terms of historical attractions, and natural beauties to include sun and sea in the first place.
