NEWS TUIK announces increase in home sales to foreigners in Turkey exceeds 400 percent

According to the data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) 95 thousand 863 houses were sold throughout Turkey in April 2021 with an increase of 416 percent in home sales to foreigners.

Home sales across Turkey increased by 124 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and totaled up to 95,863. Istanbul had the highest share with 19,260 home sales corresponding to 20.1 percent of the total.

According to the sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 9 thousand 126 house sales corresponding to 9.5 percent and Izmir with 5 thousand 505 house sales corresponding to 5.7 percent.

29,212 HOMES SOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN APRIL

The number of houses sold increased by 96.7 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and was 29,212 which was a first-time record for Turkey.

416 PER CENT INCREASE IN HOME SALES TO FOREIGNERS

In April 2021, the number of houses sold to foreigners in April 2021 was recorded at 4,077. Thus, home sales to foreigners increased by 416.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

In April 2020, home sales to foreigners had decreased by 78.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 790 units.

PROVINCES WITH HIFGEST NUMBER OF HOMES SOLD TO FOREIGNERS

In home sales of to foreigners, Istanbul took the first place in April with 2009 units. Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 859 house sales and Ankara with 228 house sales. Number of sales to foreigners was 197 in Mersin and 131 in Bursa.
