After the UEFA Executive Board meeting in Nyon of Switzerland a while ago it was announced by Mr. CEFERIN, UEFA President that the 2019 UEFA Super Cup final would be played at BESIKTAS Vodafone Park Stadium in Istanbul on Wednesday, 14 August 2019. Kick-off will be 21:00CET (22:00 local time).
BESIKTAS, one of the most prominent football clubs with millions of supporters play their matches at Vodafone Park Istanbul which was opened on 11 April 2016. The stadium was among 7 candidates volunteering for the final game.
The match will be the first in this competition played in Turkey although this country hosted 2 international events in football earlier; UEFA Champions League final at Ataturk Olympic Stadium in 2005 and UEFA Cup Final at ULKER (Şükrü Saraçoğlu) Stadium in 2009.
The previous finals in this tournament were played in following cities so far; Prague (2013), Cardiff (2014), Tbilisi (2015), Trondheim (2016), Skopje (2017) and Tallinn (2018). The 2020 final game is scheduled to be played in Porto.
BESIKTAS has won the champions title in Turk many times and has always been in tough competition with other 2 Istanbul giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
